Ingredients

• 4 1/2 cups flour;
• 3/4- teaspoon salt;
• 1/4 teaspoon allspice; 1/4 teaspoon cloves; 2 teaspoons cinnamon; 1 1/2 teaspoons soda
• 1 cup sugar;
• 2/3- cup shortening;
• 2- eggs, well beaten;
• 1- cup molasses;
• 1/2 cup hot coffee or water;
• 2/3- cup cut raisins, if desired;

1. Measure flour, salt, soda, spices all to-gether. Beat eggs, add sugar and blend. add molasses, shortening and coffee or water
