Biscuit Pockets

Ingredients

  • 2 cups sifted flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt.
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 2/3 cup Milk
  • Jelly, jam or marmalade

Directions

  1. Sift dry ingredients into bowl. Work in shortening until fine. Add milk to make soft dough. Turn out on floured board and knead lightly about 10 times.
  2. Roll out 1/4 in thick. With pastry wheel fluted cutter or knife cut into ovals about 6 in long 3 in wide.
  3. Make 3 long cuts crosswise about 1 in from one end of each oval.
  4. Put a tablespoon of jelly in middle of each oval.
  5. Bring uncut end of dough thru slit on other end.
  6. Bake in very hot oven (450°) about 12 minutes. Serve hot.
