Ingredients

  • ½ cup butter or other shortening;
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar;
  • 2 eggs;
  • 1 cup sweet milk;
  • ½ cup Gold Label Brer Rabbit molasses;
  • ¼ cup pineapple and strawberry juice mixed;
  • -1 tablespoon canned strawberries;
  • ½ cup candied pineapple;
  • ½ cup walnuts;
  • 1 cup dates;
  • 2 cups seedless raisins;
  • 2 teaspoon cinnamon;
  • 1 teaspoon cloves;
  • ½ teaspoon nutmeg;
  • 3 teaspoon baking powder;
  • ¼ teaspoon soda;
  • 1 teaspoon salt;
  • 2 cups flour;
  • 1 teaspoon water

Directions

  1. Cream butter, add sugar after rolling, beaten eggs molasses and milk, then fruit juices and soda dissolved in 1 teaspoon water. Put fruit and nuts through food chopper and mix well. Sift flour, salt, baking powder and spices together 3 times and add last. If baked in 1 loaf, requires 1 1/2 hours in moderate oven (350).
  2. If baked in 1 loaf, requires 1 1/2 hours in moderate oven (350).
