Autumn Spice Cookies

Yield: 4 doz
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup Shortening
- 1/4 cup Margarine
- 1/2 cup Sugar
- 1/2 cup Brown Sugar (Pak)
- 2 Eggs
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla
- 2 1/2 cups Flour
- 3/4 teaspoon Salt
- 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
- 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon Ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon Nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon Cloves
- 1/8 teaspoon Mace
- Additional flour for Rolling
Directions
- Cream shortening, margarine and sugars together until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs and vanilla mixing thoroughly.
- Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and spices.
- Add to shortening mixture and mix until smooth and forms a soft dough.
- Chill for at least 1 hour or until firm enough to roll out.
- Preheat oven to 350.
- On lightly floured surface Roll dough to 1/4 thickness.
- Cut with cookie cutters into desired shapes.
- Place on ungreased baking sheet and bake for 6 to 8 minutes, or until golden brown around edges.
- When cool decorate with colored frosting.
Timing
- Chill for at least 1 hour
- Bake for 6 to 8 minutes
Temperature
- chill until firm enough to roll out; oven at 350; cool before decorating
