Autumn Spice Cookies

Yield: 4 doz

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Shortening
  • 1/4 cup Margarine
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Brown Sugar (Pak)
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla
  • 2 1/2 cups Flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon Nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cloves
  • 1/8 teaspoon Mace
  • Additional flour for Rolling

Directions

  1. Cream shortening, margarine and sugars together until light and fluffy.
  2. Add eggs and vanilla mixing thoroughly.
  3. Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and spices.
  4. Add to shortening mixture and mix until smooth and forms a soft dough.
  5. Chill for at least 1 hour or until firm enough to roll out.
  6. Preheat oven to 350.
  7. On lightly floured surface Roll dough to 1/4 thickness.
  8. Cut with cookie cutters into desired shapes.
  9. Place on ungreased baking sheet and bake for 6 to 8 minutes, or until golden brown around edges.
  10. When cool decorate with colored frosting.

Timing

  • Chill for at least 1 hour
  • Bake for 6 to 8 minutes

Temperature

  • chill until firm enough to roll out; oven at 350; cool before decorating
