Apple Sauce Cake

Ingredients

• 1 cup sugar
• 1/2 cup shortening; 1 egg
• 1 cup hot apple sauce; unsweetened
• 1/2 teaspoon soda dissolved in apple sauce
• 1 3/4 cup sifted flour
• 1/4 teaspoon salt
• 1/2 teaspoon each of cinnamon & cloves
• 1 [ditto: teaspoon] vanilla
• 1/2 cup raisins
• 1/2 cup nut meats chopped fine

Temperature

• 1 cup hot apple sauce

• measuring cups and spoons; vessel for heating applesauce; flour sifter; knife and cutting board for nut meats
