PEANUT COOKIES:
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup soft shortening;
- 1/2 cup peanut butter;
- 2 cups light brown sugar;
- 2 eggs;
- 1/2 cup sour milk or buttermilk;
- 2 cups sifted flour; (all-purpose).
- 2 cups rolled oats;
- 1 cup coarsely chopped salted peanuts; 1 teaspoon soda; 1 teaspoon salt
Directions
- Cream shortening, peanut butter, sugar and eggs to-gether thoroughly. Add milk, then flour sifted with salt and soda. Stir in peanuts and oats, adding a very little more flour if necessary. Drop, by spoon-fuls, on lightly greased cooky sheet, sprinkle with more peanuts and bake in a 400-degree oven about 10-minutes. Remove to racks to cool. Do-not pile cookies on top of each other or put in cooky jar until cold as they will stick to-gether.
