CHOCOLATE PINWHEEL COOKIES:
Yield: Makes about 5 dozen 2in. cookies.
Ingredients
- ½ cup soft shortening, (half butter);
- 3/4 cup sugar;
- 1 egg;
- 1 tablespoon milk ob cream;
- 1 teaspoon vanilla;
- 1¼ cups sifted flour;
- ¼ teaspoon double-action baking powder;
- ¼ teaspoon salt;
- 2 squares unsweetened chocolate(1oz) melted and cooled.

- Mix to-gether thoroughly:

- Sift to-gether and stir in:
- Divide Dough into 2 equal parts.
- Into one part, blend;
- CHILL. Roll out white dough into a rectangle 9x12 in. Roll out chocolate dough the same size and lay over white dough. Roll the double layer of dough gently until 3/16 inches thick.Roll up tightly, beginning at wide side, into a roll 12 inches long and 2inches in diameter. Chill. Slice 1/8 in. thick. Place slices a little apart on lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake 10 to 12 minutes in 350 degree oven.
