BARBECUED HAMBURGERS

Ingredients
- 1½ lbs. ground beef
- onion, garlic and celery salts
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¾ teaspoon dry mustard
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- ⅛ teaspoon chili powder
- 1½ teaspoons brown sugar
- ¼ teaspoon catsup
- ¼ teaspoon hot sauce
- ¼ cup vinegar
- 1 cup tomato juice
Directions
- Shape 1½ lbs. ground beef into 6 or 8 patties.
- Marinate in barbecue sauce (see below) 2 to 3 hours in refrigerator.
- Remove from sauce and place on greased rack of outdoor fireplace or grill.
- Sprinkle with onion, garlic and celery salts.
- Broil quickly 2 to 3 minutes on each side or until cooked as desired.
- Hamburgers may be brushed with sauce while cooking.
- Barbecue sauce: Combine ½ teaspoon salt, ¾ teaspoon dry mustard, 1 teaspoon paprika, ⅛ teaspoon chili powder, 1½ teaspoons brown sugar, ¼ teaspoon catsup, ¼ teaspoon hot sauce, ¼ cup vinegar, 1 cup tomato juice.
- Simmer 15 minutes. Chill.

- 2 to 3 hours
- 2 to 3 minutes on each side
- 15 minutes
Temperature
- refrigerate, broil quickly, simmer, and chill
